At The Kokua Foundation, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to excel academically, regardless of their financial background. Our Academic Tutoring Grants are designed to bridge the gap for families who cannot afford private tutoring. We provide the necessary funds to ensure children receive the academic support they need to thrive.

Our Mission

Our goal is to uplift children facing academic challenges by connecting them with private tutors who can offer personalized and effective teaching. We aim to boost their confidence, improve their grades, and foster a love for learning that will last a lifetime.

How It Works

Application Process

  • Families can apply online through our user-friendly application form.
  • The application requires basic information about the child's academic needs and the family's financial situation.
  • Applications are reviewed by our team to ensure eligibility.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Children must be enrolled in preschool through college.
  • Families must demonstrate financial need.
  • Preference is given to those who have shown significant academic challenges and the potential for improvement with tutoring.

Receiving the Grant

  • Once approved, families will receive funding for private tutoring sessions.
  • The grant covers various subjects and educational settings, including public, private, charter schools, and homeschool environments.
  • Families can choose tutors who best fit their child's learning style and needs.

Our grants can be used for tutoring in a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to:

  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Reading and Writing
  • History
  • Foreign Languages
  • Test Preparation (e.g., SAT, ACT)

Finding a Tutor

Families are encouraged to find tutors who can offer the best support for their child’s specific needs. We also provide a referral database of qualified tutors who are ready to help. This database includes:
  • Experienced professionals with a track record of improving student performance.
  • Tutors who offer both in-person and online sessions to accommodate various learning styles and schedules.

Compensation for Services

To ensure accessibility and quality of education, we compensate tutors at a rate of $100 per session. This helps ensure that children receive high-quality tutoring from experienced educators.
